Advanced materials adore the future of Earth by going Zero Waste.

Zero Waste aims to minimize input and emissions in various processes.

It refers to the approach of recycling or reusing as much as possible and avoiding the use of disposable products.

Zero Waste is regarded as a major solution to environmental problems.

The movement has been in the spotlight especially since the hike in the volume of waste has caused various issues including environmental pollution, waste of resources, and global warming. Thus, Zero Waste emphasizes the importance of sustainable development, and efforts to protect the global environment and preserve resources are spreading rapidly.

Hyosung Advanced Materials practices Zero Waste

We make active efforts to go Zero Waste by minimizing the use of disposable products and increasing recycling in the production of tirecords, sewing threads, airbag yarn, and car mats using recycled PET yarn and sewing threads. We also recycled resources by using recycled water and using less raw and subsidiary materials.

Recycled PET Tirecord

Hyosung Advanced Materials has produced PET Tirecords using eco-friendly materials such as mechanical recycled PET and chemical recycled PET which developed by it through the use of raw materials extracted from waste PET bottle.
1) Mechanical Recycled PET – PET recycled through the physical reprocessing of waste PET bottles after washing and crushing them
2) Chemical Recycled PET – PET recycled through the chemical reprocessing of waste PET bottles, i.e., de-polymerization using high temperature and pressure 

Recycled PET carpets

Recycled PET carpets are made with plastic bottle waste. Products are manufactured using recycled PET yarn for car mats, supplying eco-friendly electric vehicles and other applications with carpeting and floor mats.

Recycled PET sewing threads

Recycled PET yarns made by recycling plastic waste bottles are supplied for sewing, and seatbelts and airbags of automobiles.

Recycled Steel cord & Bead wire

Wire rod, the main raw material of recycled steel cord & bead wire, is produced using iron ore and coke as raw materials when produced in the conventional blast furnace method. Eco-friendly electric furnace wire rods use scrap iron as raw material, reducing carbon emissions and effectively recycling resources. Hyosung Advanced Materials develops and supplies eco-friendly electric furnace wire rod products.

Recycled Nylon carpets

Recycled Nylon carpets are made by recycling discarded fishing nets or Nylon wastes. Products are manufactured using recycled Nylon yarn for car mats, supplying eco-friendly electric vehicles and other applications with carpeting and floor mats.

To tackle this issue, Hyosung Advanced Materials produces eco-friendly products that can reduce the use of raw materials and cut GHG emissions at the same time using steel scrap by-products.
TANSOME®, a carbon fiber that serves as the key to enhancing the fuel economy of automobiles, contributes to reducing gas emissions as well as plays a pivotal role in the green energy industry such as compressed natural gas (CNG) and high-pressure storage vessels for hydrogen. It helps improve the fuel economy and reduce GHG emissions by reducing the rolling resistance using ultra-tensile fiber tirecords.

Key eco-friendly material, TANSOME®

TANSOME® is a key material in automotive lightweighting as a lightweight and ultra-tensile material that is 10 times stronger and 4 times lighter than steel. TANSOME® contributes to reducing GHG emissions by increasing the fuel economy from lightweighting. It particularly will contribute to activating new and renewable energy industries through its application to green energy industries, such as high-pressure storage vessels for hydrogen, which requires hydrogen energy—the trending green energy.

Recycled Steel cord & Bead wire

Wire rod, the main raw material of steel cord & bead wire, uses iron ore and coke as raw materials when produced in the conventional blast furnace method. This results in high carbon emissions due to the chemical reaction between these two materials during the production process. Eco-friendly Electric Furnace Wire Rod uses scrap metal as a raw material, resulting in low carbon emissions. Hyosung Advanced Materials develops and supplies eco-friendly electric furnace wire rod products.

Low carbon-based Lyocell Tirecord

The Lyocell Tirecord developed based on Hyosung Advanced Materials’ proprietary technology is gaining attention as a material that can replace the Rayon Tirecord.
The Lyocell Tirecord, made from plant-based materials such as wood pulp, can be produced through an environmentally friendly manufacturing process compared to the Rayon Tirecord.

We practice zero impact with our Bio-Based PET, Bio-Based Nylon tirecords, and Bio-Based carpets manufactured with nature-derived raw materials.

Furthermore, We eliminate any hazards and risks in advance throughout the entire process of purchase, usage, sales, and disposal of chemicals to prevent related accidents. We also reduce waste resources through closed-loop recycling.

Bio-Based PET Tirecord

Hyosung Advanced Materials has produced PET Tirecords made with Bio-based materials extracted from natural sources such as sugar and corns instead of crude oil based materials as a raw material of PET.
Bio-Based PET Tire cord is an eco-friendly material that reduce CO2 emissions compare to Petro-PET Tirecord.

Bio-Based PET BCF carpets

PET for Bio-Based PET BCF carpets is produced using ethanol derived from sugarcane as part of the raw materials. These carpets are environmentally friendly, with a Bio-Based content of 30%, reducing reliance on finite fossil fuel resources. Domestic and international patents have been applied for this production process.

Bio-Based Nylon Tirecord

Hyosung Advanced Materials has produced Nylon Tirecords made with Bio-based materials extracted from natural sources instead of crude oil based materials as a raw material of Nylon Tirecord.
Bio-Based Nylon Tirecord is an eco-friendly material that reduce CO2 emissions compare to Petro-Nylon Tirecord.
