Hyosung President Kyoo-Young Kim Awards ‘Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit’ at Textile da
Hyosung President Kyoo-Young Kim received the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the “33rd Textile Day” held at the Textile Center on November 11. The Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit is the highest honor given by the government to people who have made significant contributions to the country’s industrial development.

President Kim, a representative director and the president of Hyosung Corporation, is one of the textile veterans who have contributed to growing the Korean textile industry and its global competitiveness by developing a technology to manufacture spandex, the global No.1 product, and localizing manufacturing facilities.

President Kim also established the Technical Service Center, which enabled the stabilization of quality and production, playing a leading role in helping Hyosung’s core products such as spandex and tire cords to secure the biggest market share in the world. In addition, President Kim has also been praised for contributing to the stable manufacturing process of carbon fiber, which is called a “new dream material” developed by Hyosung’s own technology, thereby raising the status of the nation’s advanced materials industry.

President Kim was born in Busan in 1948 and graduated from Busan High School and Hanyang University with a degree in textile engineering. In 1972, he joined Dongyang Nylon, the predecessor of Hyosung Group. President Kim is a true “Hyosung man” who has been working for Hyosung for over 46 years, starting from nylon production. He is considered a living witness in the chemical textile industry, who has led the growth of spandex and tire cords while serving as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) in the textile and industrial materials sector.

Meanwhile, at the ceremony, Kyung-il Yang, a team leader at Ulsan Plant of Hyosung TNC, received the Industry Minister’s Award, while Sung-jun Park, an employee at Gumi Plant, was given KOFOTI (Korea Federation of Textile Industries) Chairman’s Award.
