Hyosung Advanced Materials has been in the tire reinforcements business since 1968 when we became the first Korean company to produce nylon tire cord. As well as polyester tire cord, we also began producing steel cord and bead wire over time and have grown into the global tire reinforcements industry’s largest company equipped with integrated production and supply systems for tire reinforcements, earning the trust of customers all around the world. Hyosung Advanced Materials is globally recognized for the quality and technological capabilities of our products. Our polyester tire cord in particular has been maintaining the largest share of its respective global market, and our products are being supplied to the world's leading tire manufacturers.

Tire cord is a reinforcing material that constitutes the inside of a tire and is a vital material that helps tires maintain their shape and makes driving more comfortable. In the polyester tire cord sector in particular, one out of two passenger cars in the world uses tire cord produced by Hyosung Advanced Materials, demonstrating our unrivaled position in the sector.

Capply Carcass Other Reinforcing Materials

Capply(Nylon tirecord, etc.): Nylon tire cord is used for capply which suppresses the expansion of radial tires fitted on passenger cars and so on. It is also used as carcass for bias tires fitted on trucks, buses, etc. and for special tires fitted on aircrafts and motorcycles. Nylon tire cord has excellent heat resistance and adhesion properties.

Carcass (Polyester tire cord, etc.): Polyester tire cord is used as a raw material to produce carcass, which maintains the shapes of radial tires used in passenger cars and so on. Polyester tire cord possesses high strength, excellent shape stability, and excellent adhesion properties.

Other Reinforcing Materials (Lyocell tire cord, Chafer, etc.): We have developed the world's first environment-friendly Lyocell tire cord which can replace the rayon tire cord used in high-performance tires, and we also produce chafer, a flexible fabric that binds the bead wires of tires. Both products have excellent form stability.

Steel cord

Steel cord is stronger than fiber and requires stringent process control in terms of adhesion to rubber, strength, fatigue resistance, etc. To produce lighter and more lasting tires, we are making various technological efforts, such as developing new structures and increasing tire strength.
Bead wire

Bead wire is a key reinforcing material for reinforcing radial tires and protects the carcass layer from being worn by the rim of the tire. Hyosung produces bead wire with various levels of strength.
